The Atlanta Workforce Development Agency (AWDA), in partnership with Integrity Transformations Community Development Corporation (ITCDC), is excited to announce the “Citizens Returning to the Workforce” Job Fair to be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm at 818 Pollard Blvd SW  Atlanta, GA 30315.

This employment event is a special opportunity for citizens facing barriers to employment, for networking with potential employers and to revitalize themselves in the Atlanta workforce. Residents of Atlanta who are ex-offenders have been an ignored segment of our population. National statistics have shown that past mistakes should not limit a person’s ability to become a productive member of society. Never before has this subset of Atlanta received an employment focus until now.

We are confident that our candidates for employment are committed to putting their challenges behind them and are prepared to re-enter the workforce as qualified, hardworking, productive citizens. All applicants have been pre-registered and have received job readiness skills from either AWDA or ITCDC. We are anticipating 30 to 40 hiring companies to participate; onsite interviews will be provided by many.

There will be a brief presentation before the job fair begins that speaks to the advantages of hiring a returning citizen, where current employers and employees can share their experiences.

This event is also an opportunity for employers to learn about existing incentives for companies looking to hire returning citizens such as:
- The Work Opportunity Tax Credit
- The Federal Bonding Program

This fair is co-sponsored by the City of Atlanta, Atlanta Weed and Seed, the Georgia Department of Corrections, and the Georgia Black United Fund.
