Blacks and the Civil War: Did You Know?

D.R. Elder, who we met at Sight and Sounds Museum in Greenbriar Mall, gave Cascade Patch a few minutes to explain what he thought was one of the biggest fallacies concerning Blacks and the Civil War.

Elder's main point was that too many African-Americans just do not do their own research.  He said that there are so many truths and untruths around us that, it is really up to individuals to do their own research and inquire about the history that is all around them.

As a resident of Fairburn, Elder,  was keen to say that there lies a flagpole in Fairburn at Highway 29 and 92 that flies the 1st confederate flag that was ever flown in the state of Georgia. He said that this is not known, and that the confederate flag "flown there, has value."

His point is that he wishes that people were just a little more inquisitive about their surroundings and the issues that relate to them.  There is history around us if people just seek it out for themselves.
