Kwanzaa Events are Lined Up All Week for Southwest Atlanta

A range of activities are lined up for Kwanzaa 2010

There are as many ways to celebrate Kwanzaa as there are principles to embrace in the cultural holiday. Here is list of some events and activities in the greater southwest Atlanta area:

West End Mall Kwanzaa Holiday Display. Large display of lighted candles, includes visual explanation of the Kwanzaa principles. On view during mall hours: 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays, noon-6 p.m. Sundays. West End Mall, 850 Oak St., Atlanta 30310. Free. (404) 755-1001.

Holiday Storytelling at Wren's Nest. For adults and children. Includes a tour of the Queen Anne Victorian home. Dec. 27-31. 1 p.m. each day. $8, $7 students and seniors, $5 children. Ujima Celebration: A Family Event. Explanation of Kwanzaa, storytelling, entertainment includes dancers and drummers. Refreshments. Dec. 28, 7 p.m. Free. Sponsored by Hammonds House Museum. Kwanzaa Founder Maulana Karenga on "Kwanzaa and the Nguzo Saba: An Ethics of Sharing Good in the World." Lecture and Kwanzaa Celebration. Food, vendors, candle-lighting ceremony, libation to ancestors. Dance performance by Giwayen Mata, an all-female drumming troupe. Dec. 29. 5-9 p.m. Free.
