Fiery Crash at 285 and Campbellton Rd. Turns Deadly Sunday Evening

One dead and multiple injured in Sunday's crash.

It was Sunday evening near 9 p.m., when a 4 door sedan somehow went off the road on 285 southbound just after Campbellton Road, and hit a guardrail before veering back into the highway and being hit by a pickup truck.

According to Officer Chafee, "as a result of the collision the sedan caught fire. The driver of the sedan died on scene and a passenger in the sedan was transported to the hospital in critical condition."  Drivers from the 2 other cars that were involved in the accident were also transported to the hospital, in what was reported stable condition.

Upon veering off the road, witnesses say that the driver came back onto the highway and hit a pick-up truck.  This set off a chain of events in which, "a tractor trailer lost control while attempting to avoid the accident, left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch beside the expressway."
