'Jazzy Sleeping Beauty' Has Strong Cascade Connection

Ballenthic Dance Company also has an academy in East Point.


When the Ballenthic Dance Company takes to the stage Thursday night with its spring production, "Jazzy Sleeping Beauty," the troop will feature a strong Cascade corridor connection.

The organization told Patch that more than a dozen of the troop's dancers and staff are from the Cascade, Ben Hill and southwest Atlanta community.

Ballethnic Dance Company is marking it 22nd anniversary in the Atlanta arts community with its "Jazzy Sleeping Beauty," production, which runs from March 22-25 at the .

The organization also runs a dance academy, located in East Point. Founded in 1990 by Nena Gilreath and Waverly T. Lucas II, both former members of Dance Theatre of Harlem and Atlanta Ballet, Ballethnic's goal is to inform, educate, and entertain through dance.
