Just In: Storm Water, Clogged Drains Causing Delays On Ralph David Abernathy Blvd.

As of Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m., Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. was still nearly completely flooded just outside the BP gas station and Westview Dr.

Residents in the area know this exact spot overflows after every hard downpour, but rarely does it linger the day after a storm. In the video you can see that the water is nearly a foot high and even trucks are stopping to wonder if they can pass. As I passed, the car felt like it lost traction with the road for a split second.

The BP gas station told Cascade Patch they have reported the problem to the city, but that no one has come to clean out the storm water drains.

Obviously something is clogging the drain at this location, and the city needs to fix it. In addition, we as a community must continue to support a 'No Littering' campaign and help clean our neighborhoods even when the city is slow to respond.

The good news is that I went out looking for fallen trees and downed limbs in the neighborhood, and it seems they have mostly all been cleared.
