Memorial Day Weekend Events

The best weekend events in the area

Memorial Day is here and it is going to be a hot one.  The forecast shows that temperatures will reach in the 90's, so be careful and check on older relatives to make sure they are staying cool.

Since it will be so hot this weekend, one of the best places to be will be at our .  There are loads of water toys and big water cannons for both children and adults to stay cool.

Of course, the biggest festival of the weekend is the happening in Piedmont Park.  A special note about that is that the jazz bands from both Mays High School and Young Middle School have won the opportunity to play on the big stage. Congrats!

Another great option this weekend for all of our international people of for those of us that just love the "island vibe", is to go downtown on Saturday for the 24th Annual Atlanta Caribbean Carnival Parade.  The parade starts at noon, and a live stage with a number of large acts will begin playing at 3pm.  Like always there will be a number of vendors selling plates of Jerk Chicken and the like.

Last but not least, if you and your kids want to just take it easy then you should visit the for their Storytelling event.  Saturdays at 1 pm, families gather to hear, "tales which originated centuries ago in Africa, made popular by the journalist Joel Chandler Harris."
