Police: Man Shot in Head near Childress Drive and Cascade Road

Monday afternoon shooting near Childress and Cascade.

On Monday afternoon, at around 4:30 p.m., police have confirmed that a man was found shot with a gunshot wound to the head off of Cascade Road.

According to the responding officer's narrative, the officer arrived on the scene and, "witnessed a large crowd of people and stopped cars standing in the road around a male lying in the street in front of 1559 Childress Dr."   The officer says when he arrived he saw the victim, Steven Blow, "laying in the street being tended to by a female, Cheryl Shacor, who was applying pressure to the back of Mr. Blows head."

Officer Powell says, "Mr. Blow was missing a front tooth and appeared to be bleeding from the back of the head as well as there was a substantial pool of blood around him and soaking into the towels."

Initial reports from the scene could not indicate whter he suffered a gun shot wound or not.  EMS, "advised that they did not immediately see an entry wound typical of a gunshot, but did not rule out the possibility of him possibly being grazed."

Later it was determined that the victim had, "drugs and a substantial amount of money on him and was subsequently detained and arrested under a separate incident."

During a brief questioning period, the shooting victim told officers what led up to the shooting:
"Steven Blow stated that he drove to the house to meet up with some people, although he could not specify who he was meeting or for what purpose he was meeting them. He stated that as he arrived on scene, he saw several males walk out from behind the house with guns drawn and tried to either tape or tie him up. Before he could pull his gun, a Ruger 9MM, the suspects were upon him and struck him in the face, and shot at him in the back of his head. His Ruger and a white AT&T cellphone were taken from the location by the suspects."

Steven Snow was transported to Grady Hospital and arrested for drug possession.  APD is still investigating the shooting and looking for the suspects.
