UPDATED: Dangerous Roads But Tuesday Afternoon Sunshine in Southwest Atlanta

Windy, cooler weather today after storm Monday night, early this morning.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms, causing extremely dangerous driving conditions and residential power outages, hit the greater Cascade community shortly before midnight Monday.

According to The Weather Channel, Tuesday forecasts for the 30310, 30311, 30318, 30331 and 30349 zip codes all call for skies clearing around 5 or 6 a.m. but heavy winds most of the morning.

Georgia Power spokesman Jeff Wilson told the AJC this morning that about 70,000 metro Atlanta residents lost power during the storm and that all but 3,000 were still in the dark at 6 a.m. Tuesday.
