The Week Ahead in Cascade

Yo can learn about international diplomacy, obtain job search skills, see singer Cassandra Wilson, attend the Urban Forest Festival and attend a book launch.

Here are five things to know about the week ahead in Cascade. For a full list of possibilities, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1. Diplomacy discussion. Linda Thomas-Greenfield, director general of the Foreign Service and director of human resources for the U.S. Department of State, will speak about “Meeting Today's Global Challenges with 21st Century Diplomats.” Starts at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Spelman College, 350 Spelman Lane SW. Free.

2. Job coaching. Experts will tell how to jump-start your job search at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Greenbriar Mall, 2841 Greenbriar Parkway SW. Free.

3. Vocalist Cassandra Wilson at Jazz Festival. The Grammy-award winner is among musicians at Spelman College April 4-6 for A Festival of Women in Jazz. Free.

4. Urban Forest Festival. The West Atlanta Watershed Alliance, U.S. Forest Service and National Wildlife Federation will give information about Atlanta's urban forest. 11 a.m. Saturday at the Outdoor Activity Center, 1442 Richland Road SW. Free.

5. 'An Anthology of Sisterhood' book launch. This anthology, with a foreward by Ruby Dee, contains more than 100 essays, poems and short stories on the subject of sisterhood.  3 p.m. Sunday at the Southwest Branch Library, 3665 Cascade Rd SW
