Activists lecture at Spelman College. Activists, authors and professors Angela Y. Davis and Melissa Harris-Perry will give public lectures on "More than a Vote: Women’s Struggle for Full Citizenship." 6 p.m. Thursday at Spelman College. Free.

Bits of Africa. This panel discussion will address the relevance of African arts  in the lives of contemporary African Americans. 7 p.m. Thursday at the Southwest Arts Center at 915 New Hope Road SW, Atlanta. Free.

Social Security planning. This free class starts at 10:30 a.m. at the Southwest Branch Library at 3665 Cascade Rd SW, Atlanta.

South Metro Development Outlook Conference. The theme of this 11th annual economic development conference is Collaborate to Compete. Starts at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Georgia International Convention Center. $55.
