Two Girls Severely Injured After Carjacker Crashes Onto the Curb on Peeples St.

2 women in their early 20's are still in critical care after a hit & run accident.

The Atlanta Police Department is currently looking for any leads that will help to capture the suspect in the tragic hit and run accident this past Saturday on Peeples Street.

According to Officer Kim Jones, "(the girls) were sitting on a brick wall located at 824 Peeples Street, shortly before midnight when a white 2013 Ford Edge, attempting to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck the two girls."

The location of the crash was right where Peeples St. dead-ends into White St. and Rose Circle Park. Video taken by WSB shows that the car struck the girls so hard that their shoes were thrown off their feet.

"As the Ford continued," says Jones, "it damaged the brick wall and dragged the women up a small embankment."

One of the girls was pinned underneath the car and, "her left leg, below the knee was partially severed." The other had a broken pelvis, and both were transferred to Grady in critical condition.

Now that the ages of the girls has been released, Cascade Patch can identify the 2 critically injured as Adrienne Smith, 22 and Brianna Johnson, 21.

Atlanta Police tell Cascade Patch that the suspect was seen fleeing the scene on foot, but was not found. They also report that the car was stolen from an Avis Car Rental lot.
