Van Crashes into Davita Dialysis Center on MLK Drive, Leaves Gaping Hole

A utility van shuts down a local dialysis center after crashing through its brick wall.

Davita Dialysis Center located at 2538 MLK Jr. Drive SW, will reopen at some point Wednesday, after repairs are done to its brick wall which was punctured when a utility truck ran directly into the side of the building.

According to the Atlanta Police department, "the driver of the white van slammed into the building, injuring himself and two others.  The driver received minor injuries along with his two passengers."

The incident happened at a time when nearly no one was in the building.  Thankfully, the center closes early on Tuesday because normally customers and staff are just beyond the wall that was hit and came crashing down.

CBS Atlanta has talked to the brother of the driver and is reporting that he is known to have seizures, and possibly suffered a medical emergency.

APD took the driver into custody.  The dialysis center is expected to open later Wednesday and structural repairs are complete.
