Youth Empowerment Parade Kicks Off In Cascade

The parade begins at noon on Saturday at Washington High School.


The kicks off in Cascade at on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at noon.

The event is being hosted by the A.D. King Foundation.

The parade route ends at the Georgia State Capitol, and then convenes at Morris Brown College and Morehouse College.

The A. D. King Foundation is named for the late Rev. A.D. King, a deceased brother of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

According to Dr. Babs Onabanjo, president and CEO, the purpose of the parade is to engage youth in civic activities; express appreciation of African-American heritage; become engaged in civil and human rights movements; and create awareness and opportunities for youth mentoring and holistic educational development.

The parade is free to general public. All youth organizations and vendors are invited to participate.
