Clark Atlanta to Hold District 4 Candidate Forum Between Winslow and Lewis, Oct. 1

Councilperson Cleta Winslow has a challenger to her District 4 city council seat, Mr. Torry Lewis, and will meet him head-on come Tuesday at a Town Hall meeting hosted by Clark Atlanta University.

In November, City of Atlanta residents will have their chance to vote on a number of district and citywide races, including the race between Lewis and Winslow. Clark Atlanta is doing its duty, by making sure citizens have as much information as possible about the candidates before they head to the polls.

In an statement on Cascade Patch from last week, Councilwoman Winslow said that she has, "agreed to a series of town hall meetings to address concerns of interest to students, faculty and the administration at Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Spelman College,  the Morehouse School of Medicine and the Interdenominational Theological Center."  The council person goes on to say, "my commitment is always to the safety and well-being of constituents in District 4, particularly the students, who represent the future of our communities."

Torry Lewis, Winslow's challenger, has maintained that the councilwoman is avoiding him.  He said in a statement, "she has tried her best to not be in the same room with me because she knows that I will challenge her on the issues and make her answer the questions that she’s been avoiding.  The time of hot-dog politics are over!”

Cascade Patch hopes the two district 4 candidates are able to both show up at the event and answer the tough questions college students in the area have for the both of them.

The event will be held at Clark Atlanta University at the Carl and Mary Ware Academic Building room 101 on October 1st from 4-5:30pm.
