Community Corner

Cascade Rd Median Clean Up - SAT NOV 9

The South Fulton
Business Coalition has teamed up with NPU-Q, Sandtown Community Association,
Love Atlanta Foundation and others to present ‘So Clean, So Green, So Fresh’,
the West Cascade edition.

This
Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 8:30am to 1:00pm
,

we are tackling the issue of restoring the beauty to the Cascade

Corridor.  We are cleaning up from Danforth Road to the Atlanta City

Limits.  During this time, we are picking up litter, removing illegal

signage, trimming weeds, applying weed killer among many things.  We are

focusing on the medians and the pocket park in front of the Southwest Regional
Library.

  • The Meeting place for this event which starts at 8:30 AM is at
the Another Way Out- office at 1180 Utoy Springs Road (which is behind
the Cascade Road Shell Station/ also seen parallel to Starbucks on Utoy Road
    near the Cleaners).
  • All participants should park cars at Another Way Out (1180 Utoy
Springs Road) behind the Cascade Shell. Please do not part in the Cascade
Crossing Plaza as they will need all their spaces for their weekend
    volume.
  • Fulton County Police will be providing support to workers in the
    media.
  • Volunteers should bring their own gloves, come in work clothes
and older shoes.  No sandals/open toe shoes/flip flops.  No shorts or
capris/flood pants (the pants that show part of your legs but not exactly
shorts).  If you have reflective safety vests wear them (there will be a
limited number provided for those who do not have them).
  • Tools - You are free to bring your own if you prefer.
Blowers/weed eaters/round up will be provided by Carver Bible College. Rakes,
grabbers, trimmers by the Love Atlanta Foundation.
  •  Refreshments - Starbucks is providing Coffee, Publix is
    providing Water
  •  Make sure you know what poison ivy/poison
    oak
looks like.  We don't know what exactly is growing in the
    medians or on the trees.
  •  Please no young children.  This is a work site with traffic
and we cannot assume liability for wondering children.
  • Restrooms - Another Way Out will have the office open for those
who need a place to relieve themselves (restroom, resting place, etc.)..
There are also public restrooms at the gas stations, Kroger, Publix and the
    Library.
  • Fulton County regulations require that you sign a release of
    liability at check in.
