The East Point/College Park Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, in collaboration with the NAACP Atlanta Branch, will put on a "Stroll to the Poll” on Saturday October 27, 2012.  Participants will gather at Wayfield Foods located at 3050 Martin Luther King Jr Drive, SW; Atlanta, GA 30311 at 12 noon; and at 1:00 pm, the group will stroll to the Adamsville Recreation Center located at 3201 Martin Luther King Jr Dr SW Atlanta, GA 30311,  to cast their votes.  This is a rain-or-shine event. The public is invited to join and encouraged to bring family and friends.

The purpose of Stroll to the Poll purpose is to motivate and educate citizens of Atlanta on the importance of voting -- and especially the early vote. “We intend to draw attention to the voting process and to encourage all people in our city to show up at the polls and show out with their voting strength,” said Reverend Joe Flint, chairperson of the Atlanta NAACP’s Voter Education  Project.

Community personalities confirmed for the stroll include Dr. R. L. White, president of the Atlanta Branch of the NAACP.  Other dignitaries are still being confirmed, to include Atlanta City Councilman C.T. Martin,  State Representative Mable Thomas, State Representative Shelia Jones,  and State Senator Horacena Tate,  just to name a few.

Members of the East Point/College Park Chapter DST agree, "Stroll to the Polls" is a much needed get out the vote effort and we are so proud to partner with the Atlanta Branch NAACP.”

The NAACP will also be strolling to the polls in other communities with  the Deltas  and other organizations, elected officials, and churches in Clayton and Fayette Counties on Saturday, October 27th.  The goal is to get people to join the group in all three counties to early vote!
