Home Depot Does Makeover For Fulton Composite Squadron (Civil Air Patrol)

On September 26-28th, 2013, the Home Depot Corporation‘s “Team Depot” employees, who help change the lives of veterans by making disabled veterans’ homes accessible and safe, will refurbish the facilities where the Fulton Composite Squadron (Civil Air Patrol unit) meets, to change the lives of youth and inspire them into aviation careers.

Over 100 Home Depot employees and family, working alongside members of the Squadron, will gather at the hangar where the squadron meets at Browns Field airport in Fulton County on September 26th through 28th.   The successful end of this project  will be marked with a ceremony when Home Depot returns the refurbished facility back over to the members of the Squadron on Saturday, September 28th at 4pm.  The ceremony will take place inside the hangar at 3984 Aviation Circle, Hangar E, Ste 300, Atlanta, GA 30336.

This refurbishment is exciting because having refurbished facilities will enable us to better serve the current cadets and increase participation in the program.  The Fulton Composite Squadron currently has a total of 23 Cadets in the cadet program and 22 Senior Members.  Cadets involved in the program can range in ages from 12 – 21.  These cadets progress at their own pace through a 16-step program including aerospace education, leadership training, physical fitness and moral leadership. Cadets can compete for academic scholarships to further their studies in fields such as engineering, science, aircraft mechanics, aerospace medicine, meteorology, as well as many others.  Those cadets who earn cadet officer status may enter the Air Force as an E3 (Airman First Class) rather than an E1 (Airman Basic).  We are extremely grateful to the Home Depot organization for this wonderful display of community spirit and corporate responsibility.   We are also grateful to good corporate citizens, such as the Kroger Company, Quik Trip, Wal-Mart’s, and Dunkin Donuts, for contributions of food and refreshments for the volunteers.  Much appreciation to Signature Flight Support,  who has allowed us to use the facilities throughout the years as our headquarters.
