Community Corner

Lunch with Pastor Gerald Durley on our History and Technology Solutions

Learn about our History

For the first time in over
50 years a bridge of communication, clarity and wisdom will be built between
some of Atlanta’s greatest human and civil rights leaders and our leaders of
today. The past will serve as a foundation for the future of Martin Luther King
Drive Jr. and the high potential communities of West Atlanta.  The families of Mayor Maynard Jackson,
Dorothy Bolden, Ralph David Abernathy, Julian Bond, Joseph E. Boone, James
Horton, General Larry Platt, W.E.B. DuBois, Martin Luther King Jr, and Dr.
Gloria Wright will be honored.  “The greatness
and beauty of history around Martin Luther King Jr. Drive is only eclipsed,by
the brilliance of our past leaders that energizes our sustainability and
growth”, says Rodney Mullins leader of the West Atlanta Community Improvement District
and the Atlanta West Chamber.

The solution sessions and
celebration will mark the launch of a full-scale effort to create the West
Atlanta Community Improvement District.
The designation would create an entity specifically designated by the
State of Georgia to upgrade safety, code enforcement, education, economic
development and the environment around Martin Luther King Jr.’s former home.

Our nation’s most effective
leaders and foot soldiers in the Human and Civil Rights Struggle will convene
this summit to address solutions in the areas of: Mental/Physical Health,
Economics, Education and Entrepreneurship for Americas and Atlanta’s most
challenging neighborhoods.

This monumental occasion will
serve as the First Annual Reunion of Leaders and Unsung Heroes of the Human and
Civil Rights Movement. A historical tie-in will link the ‘Dream Speech’ to the
many other organizations and people that made the speech a poignant segment of
our Atlanta and American history.   The
Human Rights Achievements of United Nations Day will also be acknowledged
during the sessions.
