A local health company is spearheading the launch of the new South Fulton Mini Farmers Market, set to open this Saturday in the upper parking lot of Westlake High School. The grand opening will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Press On Enterprise, Inc., the nutrition and wellness company, announced in an April 16 press release that it aims to make the market budget-friendly, and hopes it will improve the physical and economic health of the community.
Net proceeds from sales will also be donated to local elementary, middle and high schools.
POE publicist Amanda Ross said in a phone interview that the market will consist only of produce for the time being. When the market can find a permanent location, it will expand and start holding community events like seminars on detoxing, juicing and general nutrition. For now, POE is focusing on providing fresh produce, a resource the community hasn't had access to yet.
“It’s all about bringing that element into the area,” Ross said. “It’s about getting people to eat healthier so they can live healthier lives."
