Metro Atlanta Krogers Rounding Up Support for Troops

From June 29 – July 12, all stores throughout Kroger's Atlanta Division will encourage customers to "Round Up" their bill to the nearest dollar to support American troops and their families.

Staff Report

Nearly 77 percent of shoppers said they would financially assist our nation’s troops and their families if they were offered a simple, inexpensive option to do so. Kroger’s Atlanta Division is giving its customers that opportunity by expanding its partnership with the United Service Organization, more commonly known as the USO.

From June 29 – July 12, all stores throughout Kroger’s Atlanta Division, which includes over 184 stores covering Georgia, Eastern Alabama and South Carolina, will encourage customers to “Round Up” their bill to the nearest dollar.

In doing so, shoppers will help provide financial assistance to support the brave service men, women and their families in our communities. For example, if a customer spends $99.07 on groceries, she can “Round Up” her bill to $100. Those 93 cents will be donated to the USO and our military heroes.

By donating a small amount of change, Kroger customers can collectively make a big difference. Last year, Kroger’s Atlanta Division customers united to raise more than $192,000 during the “Round-Up” campaign. And this year, the goal is to raise $200,000.

“Kroger is proud to provide our shoppers with opportunities to support our troops,” Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division, said in a news release. “This is our 73rd year partnering with the USO, and we have and will continue to be honored to play our part in serving the military families in our communities.”

Since 2011, Kroger customers in the Atlanta Division have raised more than $1 million through the grocer’s annual “Round-Up” and “Honoring Our Heroes” campaigns in support of the USO. The “Honoring Our Heroes” promotion featured hundreds of popular products at special sale prices with proceeds supporting USO.
