Families wanting to receive a free turkey can begin registering for State Representative Ronnie Mabra's annual 1,003 Turkey Giveaway via the website, www.mabraturkeys.com, or by calling 1-800-My-Attorney.
Yes, it’s almost Thanksgiving, and State Representative Ronnie Mabra, District 63, is looking for homes for 1,003 turkeys. The second annual Mabra Turkey Giveaway takes place on Saturday, November 23rd from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at 5495 Old National Highway in the Grown Folks Plaza.
“During the holiday season, many of us like to reflect on and think about reasons why we are grateful,” says Representative Mabra. “Personally, I am especially thankful for the many people who have sowed their support into me and the work I do, and trusted me as the voice of the community. It is an honor for me to give something back to the many hardworking Georgians in this district.”
This year marks the second year that Representative Mabra has provided free turkeys to families in need. In 2012, more than 1,000 families were fed as a result of the initiative, and that tradition will continue this year. In addition to giving away the turkeys, there will also be Affordable Care Act (ACA) navigators on site to answer questions about ACA, and to assist with paper applications.
“There has been so much confusion surrounding the Affordable Care Act,” continues Representative Mabra. “This year’s initiative moves beyond just feeding bodies. It is about feeding minds, and making sure that our residents have the proper information needed to make better healthcare choices for themselves and their families.”
Turkeys will be given on a “first come, first served” basis, with a limit of one turkey per household (no dual registrations allowed). Those registering for the giveaway must be a resident of Georgia, at least 18 years of age and have a valid email address. During the giveaway on November 23rd, confirmed registrants must bring a state photo ID or driver’s license. The physical address registered must match the address on the ID.
