Kwanzaa Celebration at West Hunter Baptist Tonight

NIA is NOT the last day of Kwanzaa. NIA is the 5th day symbolizing Purpose. The 6th day is KUUMBA - creativity. The 7th and final day of Kwanzaa is IMANI - faith

West Hunter celebrates Kwanzaa, Monday December 30th at 6 p.m. at West Hunter Street Baptist Church, located at 1040 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. SW (Pettagrue Dining Hall is on the ground floor of the church).

In collaboration with the Shrine of the Black Madonna, this event is free and open to the public. The community is invited to attend and enjoy.  Kwanzaa is Swahili for “first fruits” and it is a 7 day African-American celebration, with focus on seven basic principles promoting community unity.

On Monday, December 30th the celebration features the Elder Tacuma Brown along with dance, music and the children’s choir.  African attire is preferred but not required.  This program is collaboration between The Shrine of the Black Madonna Church and West Hunter Street Baptist Church.
