Calling All Parents

The Redlands Tea Party Patriots are trying to protect your children by circulating a petition to stop a new law mandating the positive teaching of alternative sexual lifestyles in our schools.

For a while in Afghanistan last year, I couldn’t tell whether I was angrier at the Taliban for shooting rockets at us or Sacramento for forcing students to study alternative sexual lifestyles in positive terms.

Then, as a parent of a 6-year-old boy, I was absolutely livid at the California legislature and Gov. Jerry Brown for passing SB 48, a law that is a blatant and shameless government overreach into our lives.

Read it for yourself:  http://www.stopsb48.com/

I tried to download a petition and send it back to California, but, as I learned later, my petition was invalid because I used the wrong size of paper.  Worse still, the Stop SB 48 people fell just 5,000 signatures short of qualifying for the November ballot.

But the Stop SB 48 people are trying again with an initiative known as the CLASS Act, or “Children Learning Accurate Social Science.” Whatever the name, the cause is just.

Now that I’m back in California, I’m proud that my Redlands Tea Party Patriots have taken on the law’s repeal as a cause. The new law clearly violates our principle of constitutionally limited government.

I was thrilled last week when I came home from work and found a huge box of petitions from Stop SB 48 people. I’m in the process of distributing them to like-minded people and gathering signatures.

The public can sign them at our next Market Night booth in Redlands on Thursday, March 15. They will be part of our ongoing neighborhood canvassing campaign.

Further, a local church, the Redlands Christian Center, 814 Church Street in Redlands, has courageously agreed to be a petition center: http://classact2012.com/petition-centers/

It’s time for good parents to stop fearing political correctness and unite in a cause as important as any parent could ever have: protecting children.

Then you are lucky, Mr. Cathey, for it did happen at my school. Know what else always happened- straight guys hitting on girls constantly, saying we must be lesbians if we didn't want what they were always trying to sell us. Gay guys were the only ones you could count on not to try and feel you up all the time. And I have never heard of a gay or lesbian person raping anyone, while straight guys seem to account for all the rapists and pedophiles in America. So the Tea Party people are not worried about what famine, war, or genocide might do to their kids, they worry that their kids might get taught that someone who is gay might actually have cured cancer or created a clean energy source? You are making it sound as if you think that if a G or L 's accomplishment gets mentioned in school the teacher is going to be holding up pictures of those sex acts for visual effects. Talk about minds in the gutter. Good luck with that anti-gay petition signing to the man with the phallic symbol in his mouth. How ironic can you get.

This is one of the best strings I have ever read in my year as a blogger for The Patch (even Clavell is throwing in something worth reading v his typical baseless and brainless epithets). I'm not really a social conservative. I really don't care what people do in their bedrooms as long as it doesn't involve children. What I resent is when the gay/lesbian/whatever community tries to impose their sexual habits on others, as what is exactly happening with this new law. The gay community used to be about wanting to be left alone. I am all for that. But now they've become the bullies they used to complain about. It's time to get this measure on the ballot and vote. Our first public appearence of the petition will be at our Market Night booth in Redlands on Thursday. C'mon out and sign and let's get it on the ballot!

Now they've become the bullies? As compared to all the years of being picked on by the bullies? Is turnabout is fair play anything your parents had the decency to teach you apply here? I see no straight children being bullied into suicide by the gay children. I only see the picked on standing up and finally getting the courage to take on the real bullies who refuse to see or hear any other language than what they themselves speak. You impose your sexual standards on everyone, everyone must be white, heterosexual, and Christian, and you now rail against being treated as a minority? How about you take a turn at wanting to be left alone, try not to get picked on, fail, and bring that feedback back to the blacks, Jews, gays, etc, on how it feels to live as an outcast in the same country that supposedly gives equal rights to everyone?

Mr. Berry, you again surprise me your hilarity :) I salute you. Go back and read my columns, most of them are based on facts and sourced with information from reliable sources to buttress the points. It's your columns that are filled with half truths (like this one.) As I have said before, you and Mr. Ferrell are projecting.
