Math-Amazing Neighborhoods is partnering with the National Tutor Association to offer free math tutoring certification to volutneers who will be serving students in various community centers and schools. The tutoring will take place twice a week, over the course of 8 weeks during the summer and also the fall. There may also be an opportunity to serve during this spring of this year as well. During the summer tutor program, students will be preparing for a math competition between neighborhoods. We invite you to join this amazing opportunity to gain professional development and help close the achievement gap. In addition to the certification, volunteers can count their training hours as community service.
The tutor certification will take place on March 23, at Spelman College, time 8:30am-4pm. Lunch will be served.
If interested in signing up to get certified and tutor, please contact Kwanza Fisher at KwanzaFisher@gmail.com and submit resume.
Although a seemingly daunting subject, this certification is for all levels of math--elementary, middle school, and high school math. So even if you are not the most proficient in higher level math, the students of Atlatna neighborhoods can use your tutoring in basic skills (multiplication, division, etc)!
