The South Fulton Business Coalition and Camp Creek Business Association are having a joint special called meeting on Friday, September 20, 2013 at 8am. The meeting takes place at Thumbs Up Diner in Downtown East Point. The restaurant is located at 1617 White Way, East Point. (Please no parking at the Bank Of America lot, they will tow; there is plenty of free parking on city streets). The restaurant has agreed to host us and please show your gratitude by ordering breakfast, coffee, etc.
The City of East Point has announced changes to their Alcohol Ordinance. We are urging all business owners, managers, employees of alcohol establishments and concerned community members to attend this important meeting.
Alexia M. Ryan has agreed to be our guest speaker to discuss the changes to the legislation. Councilman Alexander Gothard has been invited as well to talk about the ordinance.
Items of concern include modification of serving hours, a ban on Happy Hour drink specials and increased fees on both businesses and alcohol servers (waiters, waitresses, bartenders, bar backs, etc). Remember businesses, you pay taxes as well. In addition, you contribute to the East Point economy.
Come learn the facts and voice your opinions. Then, we urge you to join us on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 6:30 at Jefferson Station Council Chambers. The address is 1526 East Forrest Avenue East Point, Ga.
Over the weekend, it is crucial for you to call and e-mail Mayor and Council to express your opposition to these changes. It’s important that they hear from business owners and employees concerning this change.
City ordinance states that there is no public comment allowed during special called meetings. Please bring signs saying VOTE NO and Council has strict policies about decorum. Do not get yourself ejected from the meeting, just hold up your signs!
