1 Killed, 4 Injured in Predawn Shooting Near Auburn Avenue

Police are still attempting to determine a motive for the shootings.

Police have identified then man killed during Tuesday's early morning shootings as Selemon A. Belai, 27, of Atlanta.

Authorities believe as many 15 people had gathered to gamble by throwing dice shortly before the shootings that sent five people, including the deceased, to the hospital.

Atlanta police are investigating a predawn shooting near the intersection of Auburn Avenue and Bell Street that left one man dead and several more injured.

Several local news outlets are reporting the northeast Atlanta shooting that took place around 4:30 a.m. and involved at least four people and maybe more.

In addition to the deceased, who has not been identified, one man was taken to a nearby hospital and was undergoing surgery Tuesday morning, while two more suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are still attempting to determine a motive for the shootings as Auburn Avenue and surrounding streets near the Downtown Connector were closed during the morning rush hour.
