APD: Homicide Near AUC Campus on Parsons Street

According to police, gunshots were fired around 6:30pm on Thursday, June 13th.


The Atlanta Police Department has reported that around 6:30 p.m. officers responded to a person shot call and arrived to find "a motor vehicle accident and found the driver, who appeared to be in his early to mid twenties, appeared to have been shot multiple times and was deceased on scene."

Officer John Chafee said that the homicide occurred in the area of Parsons Street and Webster Street, just a few blocks from the Atlanta University Center.

According to APD Public Affairs, "a second occupant of the vehicle sustained a gunshot wound to the hand and is in stable condition at Grady Hospital. Witnesses reported a possible third occupant that left the scene on foot and may have been injured."

Cascade Patch asked APD if the victims were students, but there is no confirmation yet.

Officer Chafee says that their, "preliminary investigation indicates that a suspect approached and fired multiple times into the victim's vehicle before fleeing the scene in a separate vehicle."
