APD Releases Person of Interest Photo in an Abernathy Blvd. Sexual Assault Case

APD is currently trying to solve a brazen rape assault off of Abernathy Blvd.

According to John Chafee with the Atlanta Police Department, "Atlanta Police Special Victims Investigators are asking for assistance in identifying a male as part of a sexual assault investigation that occurred in the area of Ralph David Abernathy Blvd and W. Ontario Ave in Southwest Atlanta."

It is important to note that APD says the person in the photos, "is NOT a suspect."
Rather they believe he may have information that could assist them in the investigation.

In the original incident police report, Cascade Patch learned that a suspect broke in a home in the area and sexually assaulted the resident around June 30th of 2013.  The victim stated a black male in his 30's jumped on top of her with a knife and began forcing himself into her.  The victim tried to fight back, grabbing his testicles at some point but the suspect held the knife to her throat and ordered her to let go.

The man in the photo is currently only a person of interest and may have more information about the suspect.

As always, anyone with information on the person in the photos is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.  Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2000.
