APD Seize Over 2 Million Dollars Worth of Counterfeit Merchandise from Metropolitan Pkwy

According to the Atlanta Police Department, there was a major sweep within Metro Mart Discount Mall located on Metropolitan Parkway, which netted over $2 million dollars worth of counterfeit merchandise.

John Chafee, a Public Affairs Officer, informed Cascade Patch that on May 17th, "the Atlanta Police Vice Unit began investigating complaints of counterfeit merchandise and marijuana being sold at 1919 Metropolitan Parkway in Southwest Atlanta."

No details were given to the media about the extent of the investigation and how it was conducted, but according to the department, "during the course of the investigation undercover investigators purchased merchandise from the location that was later confirmed to be counterfeit."

APD Public Affairs officials just released a statement saying that, "on 5-31-2013 Atlanta Police with assistance from the Security Dupree Group served a search warrant...  Investigators seized over $2,453,737 worth of counterfeit merchandise, 4 pounds of marijuana, 2 handguns and $3,634 cash." 

There were complaints that marijuana was being sold from the location, so the drug find and firearm discovery was to be expected.  APD says that, "8 suspects were arrested and charged with Felony Forged or Counterfeited Trade."

Names of the suspects that were arrested are below.  Most of the suspects were of African or Asian descent and range in age from 57 to 19.
