APD: West End Mall Smash and Grab Investigation Continues (PHOTOS)

Thousands of dollars of damage done to our Mall at West End.

Attached are photos from the West End Mall hours after police officers found its two entrances smashed and a stolen car sitting in the middle mall hallway.

Sgt. Lyon told Cascade Patch that APD were notified of the incident at about 6 a.m. and rushed over to find the scene in complete disarray.

Officials at West End Mall say that the mall should be open for customers at 12 noon, today.  This morning, two teams of workers were trying to clean up all the glass and debris that scattered the entrance areas.  Customers can expect temporary doors until all of the glass can be replaced.

Customers and workers just arriving at the mall for their morning shift, were surprised by the destruction and the boldness of the criminals to drive 2 cars into the mall and actually leave one inside.

The stolen car used to transport the stolen ATM was found near Lucile and Greenwich, but it is unclear if money was in the ATM.

In incidents like this, there is a possibility of gang involvement and/or robbing crews, but APD is unable to confirm at this time.  THere is a possibility that surveillance footage will be released if it is able to help solve this crime.
