Police looking for a 2001 silver Volvo with Georgia license plate AHR4230.

Editor's note: Valencia Hudson, public safety liaison for Atlanta City Councilwoman Natalyn Archibong, issued the following crime alert. The stolen Volvo, was recovered on Monday, WSB-TV reported.:

EAST ATLANTA — At 1:48 a.m. on Jan. 19, 2013, Officer C. Crump was dispatched to 575 Gresham Ave. to investigate a carjacking that had just occurred.

Several other units copied the call and responded to the area. Responding Units saw the listed vehicle (a 2001 silver Volvo bearing Ga. License plate AHR4230) travelling away from the scene at a high rate of speed, and followed the vehicle as it entered I-20 eastbound headed toward Decatur.

Upon entering the highway however, the units were unable to locate the vehicle. A look-out was given over the air and also to the Georgia State Patrol.

The victims advised that they were walking southbound on Gresham Ave. leaving a bar.

They advised that as they approached their vehicle they were intercepted by two black males who looked to be in their early twenties.

One of the suspects was wearing a grey hoodie, the other a red hoodie.

The victims advised that the suspects pulled handguns on them, one possibly being a short silver semi-automatic pistol, and pointed the guns at the victim's heads.

At this point, the suspects demanded the victim's car keys and the female victim's purse which contained credit cards and her iPhone.  Neither victim was injured during the incident.

@ SO -that's a great idea. @ Chris H - I agree and its gotten very old. I'm really sick of all the crime and I once was a very nice person but the crime has made me very untrusting. I honestly feel like I can never be relaxed no.matter where I am but especially in East Atlanta.

They do have undercovers doing exactly that.

All I have to say on that matter is Gun Control.

Will D ...I agree with you totally....statistics show that a total of 33 Americans are murdered each day as a result of our poor gun control laws....I recognize that guns can protect in times of danger, but there are too many guns on our streets. Guns are now in the hands of the mentally ill, gang members, and ex offenders. I don't have a detailed plan on how to control this saturation of guns on our streets...but I am open to suggestions and a plan. Too many Americans are losing their lives.

Guns don't kill people do and everyone is saying better gun control there right we need all of the mentally ill and all the criminals and gang members to registered all there gun's and take a gun safety class to get there concealed handgun permit that way it's not just the law abiding citizens getting hurt by more gun control laws.
