Armored Truck Robbery at BP along Cascade - Suspect Flees, Security Guard Charged

Fulton County Police have released preliminary information about an armed truck robbery that occurred around 1 p.m on Tuesday at 3515 Cascade Road. (at the BP gas station across from the Cascade Driving Range)

Witnesses said that the suspect fled in a grey Nissan Pathfinder with a Missouri license plate, but not before one of the security guards fired a round at his fleeing car.  Fulton police ended up charging the guard with reckless conduct for that firearm discharge.

The suspect was able to get away and it is unclear whether he was hit or not by the guard's bullet.

According to the AJC, the suspect was, "seemingly unarmed" and was able to, " wrestle a money bag away from an armed guard."

Fulton County police spokeswoman Cpl. Kay Lester said that, "A man had approached the armored car guard leaving the convenient store and snatched the money bag, he motioned for a weapon but he did not present one.” Lester said, “A scuffle ensued between the two ending in shots fired by the guard.”

FBI and police investigators will be looking through the store's security footage to see if they can get a visual on the suspect.
