Atlanta Pair Arrested in East Point DMV Theft

A third suspect remains wanted in connection with the crime that took place during the early morning hours on the day after Christmas.

East Point police have arrested two men in connection with a Dec. 26 smash-and-grab burglary of two ATMs from a state Department of Motor Vehicles office on Welcome All Road.

Donyel Fortson and Melvin Lee Holmes, both of Atlanta, were arrested by East Point police this past Friday. A third suspect remains wanted in connection with the crime that took place during the early morning hours on the day after Christmas.

As previously reported at Patch, a pair of vans were utilized during the crime - one was used to crash through the window and was left inside the DMV, while another was used as a getaway car.

That second van was later found burned along with the stolen ATMs on Anderson Avenue in Atlanta, near Carver Circle off Tiger Flowers Drive. The suspects reportedly made off with close to $5,500.
