Mozley Park Hosts Atlanta Police District Rezoning Meeting Wednesday

Series of police district rezoning meetings—which began March 3–continue tonight at Mozley Park. Zone 4 meeting Mon., March 28, at Adamsville Recreation Center.

The Atlanta Police Department will present plans for realigning it's six beat zones tonight on Atlanta's west side.

The meeting is 6:45 p.m at the  recreation center, 1565 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. A second greater Cascade meeting is 7 p.m. Mon., March 28 at the,  3201 M. L. King Jr. Dr.

APD originally commissioned the plan to create more even workloads among the six zones and to cut down on response times.

“It’s important for us to communicate our intentions to the public,” Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said in a prepared statement. “I’m hoping that citizens will gain a greater understanding of what we’re trying to accomplish and see the benefits that will result in a safer city for all of us.”

The neighborhoods that comprise the City of Atlanta portion of Cascade Patch are patrolled by Zone 4 and portions of zones 1 and 5.

The other meetings this month are as follows:

Wednesday, March 30 – Zone 5 Atlanta Civic Center Piedmont Room 395 Piedmont Ave. 7:00 PM 

Thursday, March 31 – Zone 6 East Atlanta Public Library 400 Flat Shoals Ave. SE 7:00 PM
