Atlanta Police Remind NPU-T Neighbors to Remove Valuables from Car, "Criminals are Watching"

Never leave valuables in your car in plain sight.

The Atlanta Police Department reminds you to follow the rules of their Clean Car Campaign. Never leave valuables in your car in plain sight.

By doing this, members of the Community Liaison Department say you can prevent one of the most common crimes; theft of property from motor vehicles.

In an early video Zone 1 and Zone 4 officers say that theft crimes have risen in the area.

Keeping a Clean Car means making sure all items such as tablet computers, laptops, cell phones, purses, wallets and other valuables are removed when your vehicle is unattended. Leave those valuables at home, or lock them in the trunk.

In addition, watch where/when you put valuables in your trunk.  You should not just pull up in the parking lot at Kroger and put your laptop in your trunk.  As Ofc. Dupart points out, some criminals are getting smart and "they are watching you."  So they see you put the laptop in your trunk, now all they have to do is smash the window, pop the trunk and steal your computer.

So it may be a good idea to pull in a gas station or in a parking lot before reaching your destination, and putting your valuable items in your trunk at that time.
