Baby, Car Theft Suspect Injured After Police Chase in Oakland City Area
Chase ends with suspect, baby suffering minor injuries.
A man suspected of stealing a burgundy Pontiac led police through a high-speed chase that ended in a crash Thursday afternoon.
According to witnesses, Deuntrey Allen,was traveling westbound down Merrill Avenue at a high rate of speed around 1 p.m. with a police officer following close behind.
Another police officer traveling northbound down Oakland Drive collided with the stolen Pontiac causing minor injuries to the driver and a baby.

The chase and collision shut down businesses, delayed postal service, rerouted buses and left MARTA passengers or having to walk distances to get home. Allen faces 13 charges including aggravated assault, criminal damage, child cruelty, fleeing attempt, and drug trafficking.
According to Atlanta Police spokesman John Chaffe, Allen has an aggravated assault warrant from a drive-by shooting last year in the same car.

Also, Chaffe said, a gun, two laptops, illegal drugs and $5,000 were found in the car.
Allen’s mother was at the crime scene Thursday but declined to comment on the incident.
