Crittenton Booked in Fulton Jail Thursday, Court Appearance Today

First court appearance set for 11 a.m. today.

Former Georgia Tech star and ex-NBA player Javaris Crittenton—held two weeks in Los Angeles after his arrest at LAX for the shooting death of a 22-year-old woman in southeast Atlanta—was booked Thursday night in the Fulton County Jail.

Crittenton, 23, a graduate of Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy on Campbellton Road, is charged with homicide murder, felony murder and aggravated intent to murder, according to Fulton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan. He is scheduled for a first court appearance at 11 a.m. today, unless his attorney requests a different time, Flanagan said.

Critenton was arrested at the Los Angeles airport on Aug. 29 after reportedly purchasing a one-way ticket on Aug. 24 to there, where he has family and friends. He was wanted by Atlanta Police for the Aug. 19 shooting of Julian Jones, a mother of four, who was hit by bullets apparently intended for someone she knew.

Jones was walking with a group that included, according to police, the man Crittenton believed had robbed him of jewelry in April.

Witnesses told police the shots were fired from a black Chevrolet Tahoe, linked to Crittenton, near Jones' home in the 2900 block of Macon Drive in the greater east Atlanta area.

Crittenton was drafted by the Lakers in 2007 but traded his rookie year. He has a home in Fayetteville.
