CVS Rape Suspect Arrested Near Greenbriar Mall

The man who allegedly kidnapped a woman outside an Austell CVS, raped her and forced her to drive her car to several ATMs for cash was arrested Friday in southwest Atlanta.

A 21-year-old man who allegedly kidnapped a woman leaving an Austell CVS, sexually assaulted her and then forced her to drive her car to area ATMs for cash was arrested Friday near , according to a news release from the U.S. Marshall's Service.

Darrious DeAndre Mathis, of Austell, was arrested without incident at 2841 Greenbriar Parkway Friday morning, according to the release. He was charged with hijacking a motor vehicle; possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime; kidnapping; aggravated sodomy; and rape.

The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit and the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) teamed up to find the suspect after the violent incident Tuesday at the East-West Connector CVS that ended with the suspect fleeing the 24-year-old woman's car on foot.
