Reports of an early Saturday morning car wreck that took the life of a Stone Mountain man, conclude that the driver crossed lanes of 285 and was "exited from the car" according to the Atlanta Police Department.
The accident occurred on I-285 between Cascade Road and Mt. Gilead. According to the AJC, "the driver was traveling north on I-285 when he collided with the guardrail, re-entered the roadway and stopped in one of the lanes." That is when a second car hit his vehicle.
The driver was identified as Gerald Askew, a 34-year-old man from Stone Mountain.
