FBI Joins Search for Javaris Crittenton

FBI issues new warrant for Crittenton in the shooting death of a 22-year-old woman earlier this month.

The Atlanta and Los Angeles FBI offices have joined the search for former Georgia Tech star and ex-NBA player Javaris Crittenton who is wanted on murder charges in the shooting of a 22-year-old woman, according to an FBI news release.

According to the FBI, Crittenton, a graduate of Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy on Campbellton Road, is believed to have traveled to Los Angeles, Ca., where he is known to have family and friends. FBI investigators learned that Crittenton purchased and traveled on a one-way airline ticket on Aug. 24 to Los Angeles. The FBI warrant is for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Crittenton is wanted by Atlanta Police for the Aug. 19 shooting of Julian Jones, a mother of four, who was hit by bullets apparently intended for someone she knew.

Jones was walking with a group that included, according to police, the man Crittenton believed had robbed him of jewelry in April.

Witnesses told police the shots were fired from a black Chevrolet Tahoe, linked to Crittenton, near Jones' home in the 2900 block of Macon Drive in the greater east Atlanta area.
