Firefighter Injured Battling Blaze on Verbena Street in Dixie Hills

A family lost their home in the early morning fire on Verbena Street


The Atlanta Fire Department has confirmed that one of their firefighters was injured while helping to fight an early morning fire on Verbena Street on Thursday morning.

The department has said that the injuries are not life threatening, but have yet to say what the exact extent of his injuries are and what was the cause, reports CBS Atlanta.  Firefighters told CBS Atlanta News they believe the fire started in the furnace at the Verbena Street home just before 4 a.m.

The Dixie Hills home was completely destroyed and a man and his teenage son were able to escape the blaze.
