Georgia State Trooper Shoots Car Theft Suspect Near Campbellton Road

Two Columbus men are now in custody after a hi-speed chase along Highway 166 led to a cul-de-sac on Susan Lane around 10:30 a.m on Friday.  The suspects were apprehended by the Georgia State Patrol.

One of the suspects, Alexander Streeter age 20, was shot by the responding trooper.  According to WSB-TV, "as the trooper exited his patrol car, one of the occupants climbed out the passenger window.  While the trooper was taking the suspect to the ground, the man pulled a revolver from his waistband. At that point, the trooper shot the suspect."

A spokesperson for GSP said that the suspect was transported to Grady Hospital for treatment.  The other suspect in the vehicle has been identified as 21-year-old Dvante Pollard, who is also from Columbus.

The trooper has been put on paid administration leave pending the outcome of an investigation by the GBI.

The suspects were driving a stolen 2011 Acura.
