UPDATE: Arrest Made in Deadly Ginnis Road SW Shooting Over the Weekend

Possible gang activity could be the cause of the shooting.

UPDATE: The Atlanta Police Homicide Investigators have confirmed that they made an arrest in Saturday's deadly shooting on Ginnis Road and Fairburn.  According to an APD spokesperson, "homicide investigators were able to establish probable cause to secure three Fulton County Arrest Warrants for the charges of; Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officer on Nicholas Corwin Sanders, age 23."  Apparently Sanders was already at Grady Hospital receiving treatment for the injuries acquired during this incident when officers served Sanders with the arrest warrants.

According to Officer Kim Jones with the Atlanta Police Department, two people were shot near Fairburn and Ginnis Road on Saturday, August 17th, in the early evening.  THe location of the shooting was the Cascade Commons Townhomes.

"On 8/17/13, approximately 7:30 pm, Zone 4 units responded to a call of two persons shot at 3612 Ginnis Rd," Jones said, "one was grazed in the head and another male shot in the chest. "

Both men were transported to Grady Hospital, but Cascade Patch was informed that, "one of the males did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased at Grady Hospital."

APD Homicide Units are still investigating the crime and motive.  There were a number of witnesses around at the time.  If APD releases more info, we will share on Cascade Patch.  If you have info regarding the crime and want to report it anonymously, you can call CrimeStoppers at 404-577-TIPS
