According to the report, the crime happened in the 1800 block of Campbellton Rd.

It was believed the victim was struck with an object, but after medical evaluation it was determined that she was shot once in the head. She is now at a local hospital listed in critical condition.

There is no description of a suspect at this time, though the police department does have its hands on some surveillance tape that may lead to a suspect.

When the tape is released and there is a suspect, we will release the information to the public as this needless crime must be punished.  There is no way that an 87 year-old woman had to be shot in the head during the act of this crime nor any crime.

This is a terrible act of violence and I hope the APD and the community can help to punish these perpetrators.
