Human Bones Found on Cascade Avenue

The remains have not been identified yet by Atlanta Police as of 7 p.m., 10/18/12.

UPDATE 10/22/12 - The Fulton County Medical Examiner has identified the body as a 28 year old woman.  She was id'd by a tattoo.

UPDATE 10/19/12 - The Fulton County Medical Examiner rules that the body found is that of a woman, and the cause of death was "Blunt Force" to the head.  The police say that this was a homicide, and are continuing to look for a suspect and piece together clues.

Atlanta Police have released info about human remains being found on Cascade Avenue, behind an abandoned house.  According to the Atlanta Police Public Affairs office, officers were "conducting follow up investigations on several missing person reports," when they discovered the human remains.

The remains were discovered at 1992 Cascade Avenue, near the Sandtown Triangle.  Public Affairs says, "at this time the remains have not been identified and the cause of death has not been determined., (but) investigators do suspect foul play."

The remains have been sent to the Medical Examiner for identification, and it may take several days to do so.

The APD officers were in the area as part of a Missing Persons search.  As we reported earlier, a 60 year-old woman has been missing from the area for more than a week.
