On Monday morning, police received a call of "shots being fired" in the 1200 block of Greenwich Street just west of West End Park, according to APD spokesman Curtis Davenport.
Upon the officers' arrival, they found a man wielding a gun. Davenport stated that one officer fired his gun, striking the suspect. Next, the individual placed his gun to his own head and fired once. The shot proved to be fatal.
