MARTA Releases Statement Regarding Route 51 Passenger Dragging Incident

62-year-old Historic West End resident who uses walker recovering from injuries after bus dragging incident.

MARTA Police on Monday released the following statement about the arrest Monday of a Route 51 driver for allegedly dragging a 62-year-old Historic West End woman who was trying get off the bus:

"MARTA is currently conducting a full internal investigation related to an incident on Bus Route 51 that occurred at JE Boone and Burbank last night.  The bus operator has been placed on administrative leave.  Since the reported incident occurred on a city street, the police investigation is being conducted by the Atlanta Police Department.

 Safety and security are MARTA's highest priorities, and we take this incident very seriously.  We will take appropriate administrative action at the conclusion of this investigation.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the customer who was involved in this incident."
