Missing Mom Subject Of Show, National Search

Athena Joy Curry was last seen in the Cascade community almost nine months ago.


The disappearance of Athena Joy Curry, last seen in Atlanta's Cascade community on May 27, 2011, is being featured on NewsOne for Black America.

Curry was last seen on Beecher Street near the intersection of Cascade Road. The 21-year-old mother of one was last seen with her boyfriend, also the child's father, leaving after an argument. She has not been heard from since.

11Alive and CBS Atlanta reported on Curry's disappearance at the time of the incident.

The Black and Missing Foundation also has a tip line for persons with information about the case.

According to NewsOne, while African Americans make up 13 percent of the U.S. population, the demographic accounts for 33 percent of the missing in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s database.
