News Follow Up: Arrests Made in Allen Hills Apts Murder

Atlanta police also arrest a man for allegedly hitting three teenage girls as they walked along Westmeath Drive in southwest Atlanta and then leaving the scene last month.

Atlanta police have made three recent arrests in connection to a pair of incidents reported on here at Cascade Patch.

Atlanta Police Officer John Chafee reported on Tuesday that last week, police arrested Demario Franklin, 27, and Jamal Chandler, 28, and charged them with murder for their alleged connection with the Jan. 26 shooting death of 35-year-old Randy Menefee of College Park at the Allen Hills Apartments off of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Both Chandler and Franklin, who have prior felony convictions, are from Atlanta and are being held at the Fulton County jail without bond.

On Monday, Atlanta Police Sgt. Greg Lyon reported that over the weekend, Michael Turner, 31, had been arrested for allegedly hitting three teenage girls as they walked along Westmeath Drive in southwest Atlanta and then leaving the scene.

Turner, who according to records remains in the Fulton County jail on a $7,000 bond, was charged in the Jan. 31 incident with hit-and-run, failure to exercise due care with pedestrians and driving without a valid license.

In addition, according to jail records, Turner had outstanding warrants for battery, making terroristic threats and public drunkenness.
